“Dream Green Architecture”

This book describes the overall design strategy to achieve “good architecture” which successfully meets all our needs, provokes emotion within us and transcends us as humans.
From our birth, we try to make sense of our existence. As we live we build upon our individuality, each and every one of our experiences is reflected in our character, our personality and our identity. In this sense, the different architectural spaces we have decided to inhabit sequentially accompany us along our life path, forming -without being aware of it- the idea of our own existence.
Perhaps this is why we live our lives trying to get a more, secure and happy future, and whenever we do, this future is often associated with the idea of living in a dream house in which to create our “home”. A home that will become a source of reflection, “a sounding board” for our own existence, one that is able to meet our physical, family, social, emotional, psychological and even spiritual needs. For this reason an ideal home usually is named our “dream house”. And by extrapolation architecture that is good in every way is usually named “good architecture”.
Presumably “good architecture” must meet all possible parameters, well above the “Firmitas”, “Utilitas” and “Venustas” minimum ones. But the problem is that in most cases the professionals in architecture, at the beginning of the design process; tend to minimize the number of possible parameters, in order to greatly simplify the design problem. As if that were not enough, they tend to give more importance to certain whimsical and free parameters, set by themselves, in order to meet their banal personal desires, ignoring other parameters that are critical for the customer, environment, society and to the natural ecosystem.
Therefore, in this book the minimum standards that must be met to achieve a good architecture are analyzed. Good architecture must meet the personal, physical, family, social, economic, ecological, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of its occupants; fully integrated architecture in the natural ecosystem.
To illustrate these concepts, some of the most advanced buildings designed by Luis De Garrido are analyzed in depth.
